By all accounts, it was a very strong start to the 2025 outdoor track and field season for the Magnolia girls. The Bulldogs shined in their debut by winning the Katy Paetow Quad Meet Friday by 21 points over the host Panthers. Magnolia had medalists in 14 of 17 events as it totaled 196 points.

Sophia Phillip was the closest from the Magnolia girls track and field team to reach the University Interscholastic League state meet last year. The distance-running dynamo placed third at the Region III-5A meet in the 1,600-meter run and waited patiently through the rest of the weekend to find out if her time of 5:04.62 at
