GAME ANALYSIS:

Offensively, the Eagles put up good numbers and were able to move the ball consistently all night long. They rushed the ball 37 times for 174 yards with 1 touchdown (4.7 YPA) and were 16/25 for 176 yards and a touchdown. The offensive totaled 350 yards on the night against a very good Highlander defense. The Eagles were set back by penalties in the first half which stalled out their drives but cleaned them up in the second half leading to the 14 second half points. The only offensive blemish would be the Reescano fumble in the first half as the Eagles were closing in on the redzone.

Nehemiah Broussard went 16/24 with 176 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Broussard also carried the ball 7 times for 58 yards.

Kedrick Reescano ran the ball 29 times for 113 yards and 1 touchdown.

Dravon Wilson had 8 catches for 50 yards, Eric Sanchez had both of his catches on the last drive of the game for 49 yards including his 35-yard touchdown catch. Albert Pearson had 2 catches for 28 yards and Kendall Dove finished with 1 catch for 16 yards.

Defensively, the Eagles took on the challenge of facing a very good Highlander offense with one of the top prospects in Texas at the QB position. The defense limited the Highlander offense to 165 yards on the night and only 50 yards in the second half of the game. The defense held the Highlanders to 96 yards rushing and 69 yards passing. Enough can’t be said about how well the defense played on the night. There were no flashy performances or anything that’s going to jump off the stat sheet. Just a group of hard-nosed defensive players that all did their jobs and rallied to the ball to make plays. This performance was the epitome of a team defense.

Trayce Baker led the team in tackles with 8, DJ Lewis finished the night with 7 tackles and Daylen Wilson and Kayden Cooper both finished with 5 tackles.

Daylen Wilson picked up a sack with Tayte Baker also getting ½ a sack. Ryland Hurst was the only player to register a tackle for loss.

SPORTCAST PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Another week of tough decisions, the entire defense was considered because of their performance in shutting down a very dynamic Highlander offense but out player of the game is going to…

Nehemiah Broussard, when a play needed to be made in this game Broussard was the man to make it. He engineered 2 scoring drives of 14 and 13 plays to end the game. He completed big pass after big pass on 3rddowns in both of those drives to keep the drive alive and had the game winning touchdown pass to Eric Sanchez that put the Eagles in front to win the game.

Congrats Nehemiah and to all the players. It took everyone’s contributions and you doing your job to accomplish this win. Congrats on the win!
