Kingwood hammers Humble to conclude first round of 23-6A

No. 15 Kingwood pounded 17 hits as it crushed Humble 14-0 Tuesday night in District 23-6A.

Mia Gagliardi homered for the third time in four games. Her 3-for-4 night with five RBIs led the way for the Mustangs (16-2-1, 6-1), who wrapped up the first round of district play.

Hunter Quentel also homered on a 2-for-4 night with two RBIs. The sophomore started in the circle and went just one inning with two strikeouts.

Leilani Garcia totaled seven bases on a 3-for-3 game with two RBIs. She doubled twice and tripled.

Mia Chaires and Samantha Trzecki also doubled. McKenna Holm and Abella Mata had two RBIs apiece. 

Addyson Sheppard was 2-for-4 with two runs off the Wildcats (5-16, 1-6).

Lyndsie Gilman went three innings with four strikeouts. She allowed the lone hit of the night.

Kendall Yates struck out three in the final inning.

Kingwood hosts two games during the Humble ISD Tournament on Thursday. The Mustangs then host Goose Creek Memorial in district play Friday night.
