On February 11, the Conroe Tigers went into the locker room tied with Aldine Nimitz in the Region II-6A Division I bi-district playoffs. The bi-district game turned on a dime after halftime. And with that, Conroe’s season also did. The Tigers were feeling positive at halftime with a tie game against District 14-6A champion Aldine Nimitz Tuesday night in the Region II-6A Division I first round playoff game at Kingwood Park High School. Conroe made a mad dash to the finish line in the regular season. It took eight wins out of ten games down the stretch to extend the program’s playoff streak to seven straight years. That’s one goal achieved. Now for the next step – advancing past the bi-district round for the first time since 2022.

A week before Christmas, Conroe was 2-4 in District 13-6A. Each loss was as painful as the one before. The four losses were by a combined 14 points against the teams the Tigers would most likely be competing for a playoff spot against. Despite the hole, the Tigers never gave up. Last week played out in Conroe’s favor. Now the Tigers have to finish the job in order to extend their playoff streak. The Tigers went 1-1 last week while Oak Ridge fell in its only game of the week, setting Conroe up with a one-game lead for the final playoff spot in District 13-6A entering

Conroe’s two seniors had different paths to Friday night and their special ceremony prior to the game against Willis. Alisa Sneed is Conroe born-and-raised, a four-year varsity letterwinner, a three-sport varsity star and captain of the Tigers basketball team. Saterria Poehlein is a transfer to Conroe who made varsity this year, provides some hustle minutes

Conroe couldn’t be stopped at home during an important stretch run of the season. The Tigers honestly haven’t struggled in The Pit this season  but in the month of January, they very much shined at home.  Conroe honored its seniors and took a 57-38 win over Willis Friday evening to finish 5-0 on the month

Playing against the District 13-6A champion Grand Oaks Grizzlies and sizing up their prolific scorer Bree Riley one last time before she graduates, the Conroe Tigers held the Grizzlies all-time leading scorer mostly in check. The Conroe Tigers are in the playoff picture for the first time this season by the slightest of margins. It took work to get there and that work must continue over the next three games to reach the postseason. Two of those games are this week as the Tigers (15-9, 8-5) travel to No. 16-ranked
