Conroe matched its longest winning streak of the year and took a District 13-6A series sweep of New Caney in the process.
On Saturday afternoon on the road, the Tigers turned a 12-point lead at halftime into a lopsided 68-31 victory.
The Tigers (13-9, 7-5) held the Eagles (5-22, 2-9) to just seven points in the second half and two points in the final quarter.
Going into this Tuesday’s bye, the Tigers keep their playoff hopes intact, largely on a run of five wins out of their last six games dating back to Dec. 20. The Tigers enter next week tied for fourth place with Oak Ridge after the War Eagles fell to College Park Saturday afternoon.
Conroe’s lone loss since the calendar flipped to 2025 was last Wednesday by five points to The Woodlands.
The Tigers put together two wins this week after defeating second-place College Park 45-40 back on Wednesday.
The last time Conroe won three straight was the very beginning of the season when it defeated Magnolia West, Lake Creek and Dekaney.
As Conroe won the first quarter against the Eagles 20-10, sophomore Maliyah Harrison came out fiery with a pair of 3-pointers. Senior Alisa Sneed – who ultimately had a quiet day offensively – also hit a 3 in the first quarter and scored all four of her points on the game.
When all was said and done, 10 out of the 11 who dressed scored for Conroe.
Junior Taylor Smith led the way with 15 points, her most in a game since netting 20 against Cleveland on Dec. 13. It was Smith’s fifth double-digit game of the season.
Kayleigh Phillips also shined. The freshman guard scored a new varsity career-high 13 points as she made four field goals and was 5-for-6 from the line. It was Phillips’ third double-digit game output on the season and first since Nov. 7 against Dekaney.
Fellow freshman Christy Rogers also had a strong outing with 11 points, including four field goals in a 22-point fourth quarter for the Tigers.
Harrison finished with eight points, junior Riley Gross had five points, while sophomore Carly Boothe and freshman Everly Cumpian each had four points.
Conroe previously defeated New Caney 66-24 back on Nov. 26 when Boothe led with 15 points.
The Tigers have won seven straight over the Eagles, who travel to Oak Ridge on Tuesday.
Conroe, meanwhile, is off until Friday night when it meets those War Eagles in a crucial district matchup.
