Dayton sweeps non-district series with Livingston

A non-district win at Livingston Friday night and the Dayton Broncos are now on its longest winning streak of the season.

Sebastian Avila and Braden Gutierrez combined forces on the mound and the Broncos scattered eight hits for a 6-2 win over the Lions.

Dayton (8-11) beat Livingston 8-4 earlier this week and topped West Fork a week ago in District 18-5A.

Avila went four innings on the mound with six strikeouts, one hit and two walks. He allowed two unearned runs. The junior was also 3-for-3 (double) at the plate with two runs.

Gutierrez pitched three shutout innings to close it out. He allowed one hit, struck out three and gave one free pass.

Senior Andrew Soliz was 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. 

Ivan Lopez and Manny Castillo also drove in runs while Zak Wood was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Livingston (4-10-2) has dropped three straight games and eight of its last nine.

Dayton returns to district play next week. It hosts Porter Tuesday and travels to the Spartans next Friday.
