Deer Park’s scoring surge upends Clear Brook

Deer Park easily scored its most runs this season Tuesday night and the most since posting 22 runs against Willis back in 2021.

Yep, it was a number quite often seen in football

The Deer totaled three touchdowns and a field goal as they beat Clear Brook 24-7 in five innings to extend their win streak to eight games.

According to records kept on MaxPreps, the Deer (13-4, 3-0) have scored 20-plus points in a game at least five times since the early 2010s.

Deer Park’s previous season-high was the 12 runs scored against Clear Falls a week ago.

All nine players in the starting lineup had one RBI against the Wolverines (3-9, 0-3)

It started with a four-run first inning and the game 7-5 through three innings. From there, Deer Park scored six times in the fourth and 11 times in the fifth.

Journey Calderon was 3-for-4 with a team-high five RBIs. She doubled and tripled.

Mia Montemayor homered and doubled on a 3-for-4 night with four RBIs.

Like Calderon, Caitlyn Wade doubled and tripled. She was 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Kayla Barras, Camryn Plocheck and Reily Hernandez each had three RBIs. Plocheck was 3-for-3.

Aleena Carrizales, Madison Macias and Izzy Mendoza had one RBI each.

Braelynn Jones allowed three earned runs in 2⅔ innings. She struck out two, walked five and gave up one hit. Madi Alvarado went the rest of the way with four strikeouts, two earned runs and five hits.

Clear Brook has struggled to contain teams after allowing 25 runs combined in losses to Clear Springs and Dickinson.

Clear Lake entered the week 9-2 and 1-1 in district play. The Falcons come to Deer Park for a 6:30 p.m. game Friday.
