Klein Cain rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth and scored all of its runs consecutively after an early Magnolia lead for a 6-4 District 15-6A win and sweep of the Bulldogs Friday night.
Magnolia (12-6-1, 4-2) led 4-0 after two innings before the Hurricanes (8-6-3, 4-2) cut that in half in the bottom of the fifth and surged ahead in the next inning.
Magnolia’s night ended on a double play ball.
The Bulldogs were led by Karson Dupre, who was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Jordan Enyart doubled and had an RBI. Jacob Hunter knocked in a run in the first inning. Magnolia had just one other hit – a single by Clyde Williams.
Jackson Wilcox had a quality start on the mound as he went five innings with one earned run allowed on five hits and four walks. He struck out three.
It’s the first losing streak all season for Magnolia. The Bulldogs did however lose and tie a game on the same day – March 7 – against Brenham and Friendswood.
The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround opportunity to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon at Klein Forest at 1 p.m.
