Kingwood Park pulls away to 12-6 win at Livingston

The weather wasn’t favorable for Kingwood Park last week.

It was finally a clear night Tuesday, yet the Panthers rained runs all over Livingston.

Those runs came in bulk as the Panthers played a back-forth-battle with the Lions until seven runs over the final three innings helped them pull away to a 12-6 win.

Kingwood Park (6-0) had all its games canceled last week due to the weather, including the annual Humble ISD Tournament. The Panthers hadn’t played since taking a win over Thrall at the NFCA Texas Leadoff Classic on Feb. 15.

Livingston jumped up 4-0 in the second inning before Kingwood Park scored five in the third, including a three-run homer by Abbey Papadimitriou, which scored Ava Klinefelter and Samantha Barnes, who both singled. Three batters later, Kendall Olson hit a two-run homer to take a 5-4 lead.

Livingston tied the game in the bottom of the third.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Kingwood Park scored three in the fifth and then added three more in the sixth to pull further ahead.

Kingwood Park totaled 13 hits with the top eight batters in the order each reaching base.

Klinefelter was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Allie Minick, Addi Gomez and Keilee Brown each had two hits.

Papadimitriou and Olson each ended with three RBIs. Klinefelter, Barnes, Brown and Hadley Heineman each had one RBI.

Minick pitched a complete-game with 12 strikeouts. She walked four, allowed 10 hits and six earned runs.

Kingwood Park has a non-district game Friday at Port Neches-Groves. It’s a 6 p.m. first pitch.
