Magnolia brought a scaled down crew to the Clear Creek ISD Ruben Jordan Relays Friday afternoon.
Despite just a few select competitors – with it being spring break this week – the Bulldogs finished ninth out of nearly 30 teams at the meet.
Senior Sophia Phillip was the lone individual medalist for Magnolia.
Phillip cruised to the finish line in the 3,200 run in 11:11.60, 23 seconds ahead of second place.
The Sam Houston State recruit also brought home a bronze with a 2:23.32 finish in the 800, a mere 0.8 behind winner Mya Tubb of Clear Springs.
Amariah Molden just missed the podium in a heated 400 final. Molden crossed in 57.99 seconds, 1 second behind the winner Zoe Woods of Pearland.
In the discus, Josie Honchell threw 114-6, just five feet off the podium as she finished fourth.
The sprint medley relay of Lauren Lindl, Hannah Alvarez, Rachel Bash and Jenna Bash brought in a bronze medal with a time of 4:28.34.
It’s an exciting week ahead of Magnolia as it hosts its annual Dog Pound Invitational this Thursday at Bulldog Stadium. Field events start at 12:30 p.m. with running finals beginning at 4:30 p.m. Magnolia will honor its seniors that evening.
