Magnolia cooks up Klein Forest to get back in win column

Once Magnolia got cooking Saturday afternoon, everybody ate.

The Bulldogs trailed their third District 15-6A game of the week by a run after four innings at Klein Forest.

Magnolia then scored five in the fifth and five more in the seventh for an 11-2 victory which broke up a two-game slide.

Seven different Bulldogs (12-6-1, 5-2) drove in a run with senior Keegan Chavez providing the big blast with a two-run homer in the fifth. The senior finished 2-for-3 (he also doubled) with three RBIs,

Chase Lowery went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Zach Love, Jordan Enyart, Ian Pugh, Clyde Williams and Eli Holseth each had one RBI. Enyart doubled.

Gavin Garcia pitched three innings with three strikeouts. He allowed two earned runs on two hits. Braylon Hobbie took over for four innings of shutout ball. He struck out four, allowed two hits and walked one.

Klein Forest (3-15-1, 0-9) have dropped 22 straight district games and are 1-12 in the month of March.

Magnolia came on a two-game slide after losses to Klein Cain this week. 

The second game of the series takes place 7 p.m. at Magnolia.
