Oak Ridge sweeps New Caney, earns win No. 30

For the second consecutive season, the Oak Ridge War Eagles reached the 30-win mark.

On Tuesday night at New Caney, the War Eagles took their sixth sweep in District 13-6A, 25-8, 25-18, 25-12.

The War Eagles (30-9, 7-4) remains in playoff contention as they currently hold down fourth place.

New Caney (3-22, 1-9) has dropped three straight matches.

Oak Ridge was led offensively by junior Gaby Santiago. Of the 40 team kills on the evening, Santiago totaled 14 and added 16 digs for the double-double. She also led the team in aces with three.

Junior Jade Clay added seven kills while fellow junior Leila Ceaser added six and sophomore Micah Rusher had five.

Oak Ridge had a 41.7% kill percentage.

Senior Bradi Rhodes totaled 25 assists while adding seven digs. Ceaser had eight digs while junior Riley Dube had four.

Junior Samantha Daley had seven assists while junior Guen Blackburn had six.

The War Eagles return to action 4:30 p.m. Friday at home against Conroe.
