Papadimitriou provides go-ahead double in win over West Fork

Abbey Papadimitriou provided the go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning Friday night as Kingwood Park prevailed 3-2 over West Fork in District 18-5A.

The Panthers improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in district play and are 2-0 at home.

West Fork dropped to 9-12 overall and 0-4 in district play. The Gators have dropped six of their last eight games.

Kingwood Park took the early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but West Fork had an immediate response with two runs in the top of the second.

A Papadimitriou triple scored Ava Klinefelter and then Allie Minick knocked home Papadimitriou on a single.

Minick took to the circle from there. The sophomore kept the game tight after allowing the two earned runs. She struck out 11 and gave up four walks to just one hit.

Klinefelter helped set up the winning run by tripling to begin the fifth. She scored on Papadimitriou’s double.

Minick locked in from there with just one runner allowed (a hit batter with two outs in the seventh) the rest of the game.

Papadimitriou finished 3-for-3 while Klinefelter was 2-for-4 and stole a base. Addi Gomez was 3-for-3 with a double. Keilee Brown, who homered Tuesday, and Hadley Heineman each had one hit.

It was the second straight one-run decision as Kingwood Park fell 6-5 at Crosby three days earlier.

The Panthers are back in action Tuesday night at Dayton.
