It was an electric night for the tandem of Kaitlynn Torres and Mayce Burkett.
Two key leaders for Grand Oaks hit back-to-back homers on two different occasions while Torres pitched a complete-game in the circle with Burkett catching in a 5-3 win at College Park Tuesday night.
It was the Grizzlies’ fifth straight district win and a series sweep of the Cavaliers.
After College Park (10-14, 3-8) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Burkett led off the second with a solo shot to left and Torres followed with a solo shot to center to give the Grizzlies (18-5, 8-3) the 2-1 lead.
Jaz Leveston made it 3-1 in the fourth on an RBI single which scored Leveston.
Mirroring the second inning, Burkett homered to left to lead-off the sixth and Torres homered to center for a 5-1 lead. Torres now has a team-high eight homers on the season while Burkett has six.
College Park added runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but fell by two runs for the second time this season to Grand Oaks.
Torres struck out five, walked six and allowed five hits. Just one run was earned.
Leveston had two of Grand Oaks’ eight hits. Julia Veilleux doubled.
