Week 10 football preview capsule: Humble at Goose Creek Memorial

Humble (4-4, 1-4) at Goose Creek Memorial (0-8, 0-5)

The details: 7 p.m. Thursday, Stallworth Stadium
History: First ever meeting

Key player for Humble: Senior Jalen Lolesio has been a jack-of-all trades for the Wildcats in recent weeks, playing both sides of the ball and on special teams. Lolesio blocked a punt in Saturday’s loss to Summer Creek which set up a touchdown scoop-and-score for Darius Heard. Lolesio has 32 tackles through seven games.

Key player for Goose Creek Memorial: Sophomore Matthew Thomas leads the Patriots in touchdowns with six, all of them receptions.

Stat attack: McArthur Baker III upped his season touchdown total to 12 as he caught a pass from Tristian Bernard in the fourth quarter Saturday. It was Baker’s first touchdown reception of the season as his other 11 scores were on rushing attempts.

Notable: Goose Creek Memorial played its closest game of the season Friday as it fell 27-21 to Channelview … The 21 points scored was the most in a month for the Patriots, who scored that amount in a Sept. 27 loss to Kingwood … Goose Creek Memorial has lost 16 straight games with its last win coming against Bellaire in Week 2 of the 2023 season … Humble is looking to avoid a four-game losing streak, something that hasn’t happened since 2021 … The Wildcats have dropped consecutive games to Atascocita, C.E. King and Summer Creek, which was 48-17 this past Saturday … After Kingwood’s win over C.E. King last week, Humble is still mathematically alive for the final playoff spot in District 23-6A.
