Channelview (0-4, 0-1) at Humble (3-1, 0-1)

The details: 6 p.m. Saturday, Turner Stadium
History: This is the 12th meeting between the two programs since 2006. Humble has won seven of those games, including a 21-0 win last year and a 20-14 win in 2022. The Falcons last took a game from the Wildcats in 2021.

Key player for Channelview: Jason Wheelock, a senior, is the quarterback for the Falcons. He led the team a year ago to a 5-6 record and a playoff berth with 1,465 passing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Key player for Humble: As the Wildcats had a tough time at the office offensively against No. 2 North Shore last week, the defense got some big reps in. Senior Johnny Smith led the way with nine tackles while William Baxter had two tackles for loss. Smith has 20 tackles on the season.

Stat attack: In last year’s shutout win over Channelview – the last time Humble has kept an opponent off the scoreboard — the defense came away with four fumble recoveries. The Falcons had just 137 yards of total offense.

Notables: Other than a chance to play one of the state’s best in North Shore, Humble didn’t have a lot of positives to take away as it was shut out for the first time since October 2022 against Atascocita … North Shore has only allowed 16 points all season … Jalen Lolesio forced a fumble against the Mustangs that was recovered by Darius Heard … This is the fourth straight game Humble is not playing on Friday night … Channelview has not has luck on its side this season with three one-point losses (Pasadena Memorial, Aldine MacArthur and Clear Creek … District 23-6A started this past Friday with a 59-0 loss to Summer Creek … Channelview has lost five straight dating back to last season … The 0-4 start is Channelview’s worst since 2010.
