Key player for Magnolia: We’re going with junior defensive lineman Demond Perrino this week. A force up front for the Bulldogs, Perrino recovered a fumble last week against Klein Cain and assisted on three tackles. Perrino was brought in for a short touchdown run against Klein Oak earlier this season and also converted a two-point conversion against College Station.
Key player for Klein Forest: Golden Eagles junior quarterback James Robinson makes this offense move. Precision passing and a strong run game helped Klein Forest nearly pull off a huge road win at Tomball Memorial last week.
Stat attack: It’s unlikely Magnolia is in the mood for morale victories, but the Bulldogs defense can hang their hat on stalling a tough offense in Klein Cain last week. The Hurricanes were averaging 47.2 points per game until Magnolia held it to a season-low 28 last Friday night.
Notables: The 28-7 loss to Klein Cain last week was Magnolia’s first in district play as a Class 6A. … The seven points scored were a season-low for the Bulldogs offense as well as a tying a season-low allowed for Klein Cain … Senior Colin Leahey had another strong night running the ball with 74 yards on 21 carries and one touchdown … Sophomore Chase Lowery returned at quarterback after missing Week 4 and threw for 65 yards while rushing for 29. … Hudson Enyart picked off a pass for the Bulldogs … Klein Forest came close at Tomball Memorial last Friday, but the 27-26 loss was the Golden Eagles’ third straight … Klein Forest is allowing 39.3 points per game in losses to Klein, Klein Oak and Tomball Memorial … The Golden Eagles beat Magnolia West 14-3 in the district opener back on Sept. 14.
